About Smile Makeovers
If you don’t know about makeovers, then you haven’t watched much reality TV lately. There are shows that help you lose weight, become a model, and just generally bring out your most gorgeous self.
Realistically, a smile makeover isn’t going to have you walking the runways in Paris or Milan, but it will make you feel much better about yourself. So what is it? Simply one or more cosmetic dental procedures, like bonding, whitening, veneers, or implants that can give you a brighter smile and improve your self-confidence.
Is It a Reconstruction?
A smile makeover is a type of reconstruction. But usually, when we refer to a reconstruction, it means something that you need to have done to improve the function of your teeth. A makeover, on the other hand, is something that you choose to have done. Its purpose is nothing more than to give you a more pleasing smile.
So the difference between a makeover and a reconstruction is that you don’t have much choice when it comes to reconstruction. A makeover is entirely up to you. What would you like to have improved?
Who Benefits From a Smile Makeover?
If there’s anything that displeases you about your smile, you could be a candidate for a smile makeover. Some of the conditions that a smile makeover can correct are:
- Discolored Teeth – Perhaps your teeth are discolored or dark. This can result in making you look older than you really are, whereas a bright smile makes you look younger. In this situation, you could benefit from porcelain veneers. Your dentist can help you choose just the right shade for your skin tone and hair color.
- Poor Spacing and Alignment – If your teeth are crooked, gapped, or overlapping, they can be effectively aligned and straightened using orthodontic procedures. At Loftus Dental, we’re a premier supplier and installer of Invisalign® invisible aligners.
- Missing Teeth – Just one missing tooth can result in a poor bite and increased risk of tooth decay. And of course, it can have a terrible effect on what could otherwise be a beautiful smile. Fortunately, missing teeth are easily replaced using implants, partial dentures or bridges.
- Aging Face – Often, as we age our faces begin to sag due to loss of bone volume. If your face is aging unattractively, you can benefit from a number of smile makeover techniques, including orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery.
Virtually any cosmetic dental problem can be improved or corrected using modern dental techniques.
We invite you to visit Loftus Dental for a consultation. Our dental team can advise you as to which measures are best for your needs, including functional and cosmetic restoration, whitening, veneers, crowns, bonding, orthodontics, and maxillofacial surgery.
How Long Will My Smile Makeover Last?
It depends on the procedures involved, but generally speaking, most makeover procedures require no more care than you would give your natural teeth. Essentially, if you brush and floss the way you’re supposed to, and see us for regular checkups, you can expect that your smile makeover will last a very long time.
